1940's Inspired handmade felt brooches

I had alot of fun creating felt brooches for Easter and Spring in pretty, fresh pastel colours.

I was inspired by the felt accessories created in the 1940's when jewellrey was in short supply and women made accessories of all kind to adorn outfits, hats and bags.

Here are a couple articles from the 40's about creating these collectable gems and some other kinds which were made out of whatever "scrap materials" the women had available.

They show some great examples that you can easily try yourself!

I am going to try to make one of the collar style "brooches" next, like the one on the model in the photo.

If you would like one but you dont have the time to make one yourself, pop on over to Vintage Lifestyle where we have the new Spring and Easter brooches or have a look in THE WORKROOM for our other styles.

I love vintage needlepoint handbags and have a few that I keep for myself. Of course it wouldn't be right if I kept them all for myself so available right now at Vintage Lifestyle is this floral beauty.

Friends will be green with jealousy and everyone else will be impressed with you individual sense of style.  Even simply on display this handbag will catch the eye and make you feel good all over!

Just a few pics from Christmas to share with you....

Jet and Sunny at the local pub looking festive with Christmas gingham bows. As always Jet bore his bow with tolerance but Sunny wasn't as comfortable....

Pretty Ivy and white sparkly ranunculous wrapped around the ceiling light. I love to use real greenery whenever possible at Christmas time.

I really try hard not to buy any Christmas decorations because we have so many but Christmas goods are a weakness of mine so when I saw this wonderful basket, almost entirely covered in glossy red berries. I just couldn't help myself.

This is a set of Santa figurines that belonged to my grandmother. I believe they date to the 1950's.

And here is a possible future heirloom that I bought while back in the US years ago. A snowglobe from one of our childhood Christmas shows.

Pretty vintage trim wrapped around greenery. The trim makes this "garland" stand out when you come into the room.

This lovely glass cloche was a gift from hubby last year at Christmas. I love to put different displays in it with the changing seasons.

I had to throw this photo in here. This is Sunny asleep on the sofa with hubby in his new Christmas elf slippers.
I do believe that is one happy dog....

Happy New Year everyone!

Don't forget to have a look at our website. We have listed some superb new finds!

Vintage Fair Shopping

Hello everyone!

Some of our regular customers will note a few changes to our website. We hope you will like the look as much as we do.

Please stop by Vintage Lifestyle where we have listed lots of glorious "new" stock for our vintage loving customers.

We are back from a blogging break and bringing you a few photos from a fairly recent shopping trip where we found luscious genuine vintage stock for our customers.
I spotted this gorgeous sofa/bench/seat at the "fair" and SO wanted it to be mine but alas, it would not fit into our car.
Isn't is lovely?

You do see some interesting people when you are out and about at the fairs. Take this lady for instance; her dog balanced up on her shoulder and back while she shopped. My dogs are both border collies so may be a little too big for the shoulder position....

I could never "wear a dog" while shopping anyway, I am always bending down to sort through bags and boxes and would no doubt drop even the best balanced dog ;)

Among the many stalls of fascinating items was this wonderful washer. It was so charmingly attractive the colours were beautiful and the thick shiny enamel finish was in excellent condition.
I would have been tempted to try and fit this into our car if only my kitchen weren't so tiny. Try as I might, I could not think of one place to fit this lovely washing machine so it stayed there but I don't imagine for long....
There was a tombola stall and I was very impressed to see this "drum", made to spin the raffle tickets but decorated with the most wonderful decoupaged floral cut outs.

I tried to take it off their hands, after all, they need a new one surely, but I had no luck. It was without a doubt the prettiest tombola drum ever!
                                                                Goodbye for now!
